Volunteer

This campaign is a community effort. We are so grateful for all the neighbors who have already stepped up to volunteer—and we are always looking for more support! Volunteer to host a house party, door knock your block, make art, and more! Fill out this volunteer form and someone from our fundraising team will reach out to you.

Submit a Testimonial

You can submit a testimonial two ways:
  • Leave a note in person at the Cafe
  • Fill out this form HERE by uploading a picture of yourself (bonus points if that picture is at May Day)

Personal testimonials are going to be a key element of this fundraising campaign. We plan to uplift and honor the history of May Day, highlighting the ways in which the space’s legacy has been built and enlivened by our community. Think of it as an archive of May Day, being crowdsourced in real time!

Plus…personal testimonials are also a great way to encourage people to give! If you have a special memory of the Cafe and/or want to share why you think this place is so important, please tell us! We would love to feature your testimonial on our website and social media. Please encourage your friends and networks to submit as well!

Submit ART

We plan to gather artwork from the May Day Cafe community to use in support of these fundraising efforts. Art submitted  might be printed on posters and used on social media, or possibly other things as well!

    Neighbor, Regular

“May Day is a pillar of Powderhorn and of south Minneapolis as a whole. This cafe goes hand and hand with the vibrant queer and working class values of south Minneapolis. I love having a neighborhood spot that I know I will see familiar faces and be seen. It is a true community gathering spot which feel harder and harder to come by as Minneapolis grows. To have this amazing community corner stone be cooperatively owned would just make it that much stronger and value-aligned.”

“I don't want my scone dough touched by just 2 capitalist hands! I want it stirred and shaped by hordes of worker-owners who are their own bosses. Yum!”
