Help the May Day workers buy the Cafe!
Have you heard that the workers at May Day Cafe are buying the Cafe to operate the business as a worker-owned cooperative?! This is amazing news! Here’s the thing—the May Day Cafe Workers Cooperative won’t be able to afford to purchase May Day without raising some money. We already have so much in place to make this vision a reality. Now we need you!

Neighbor, Regular, Fan“May Day Café has become a very important part of my life since I moved to Minneapolis from Santiago, Chile. It's a place where I can hide from the world when I need it, and also a place where I have met fellow Chileans, Spanish speakers, musicians and readers. Being there provides me a feel of belonging that's esencial when you are an immigrant. I'm always grateful for it and I want MayDay to keep existing, for the good sake of everybody. You have all my support.”

customer, neighbor“May Day Cafe is such a fixture in the Powderhorn neighborhood! It has always felt like home to me. It's a beautiful community space that happens to have really delicious, high-quality, and affordable food. I think a worker cooperative is a great way to preserve the May Day we love for many years to come.”

dEVOTED fAN“May Day is the number 1 community hub and go-to meeting place in South Mpls for meeting friends, dates, and dreaming up ideas. On most Mondays, Helena and I have the tradition of going to May Day for the INCREDIBLE vegan pizza, for the several friends we are sure to see, and to do our work for the day. I am so excited for May Day to be transformed into a worker-owned and run cooperative!!”

And we are all so excited and ready to support this incredible cafe in becoming a WORKER OWNED COOPERATIVE!!!”

Neighbor“I recently moved to the Powderhorn neighborhood and May Day Cafe has been the most reliable instrument in finding connections within my new community. When I'm picking up a morning coffee I get to meet my neighbors and feel like I'm a part of something bigger--a community space where all are welcome and where conversations spark transformative ideas to make our home better for all of us. I am excited to see how the May Day Cafe Workers Cooperative will reinvigorate our relationships to our food, our neighbors, and this place we call home.”
